T Lymphocytes: Regulatory
نویسندگان
چکیده
CD4+ regulatory (Treg) T cells play a central role in the immune system by potently controlling the responses of other immunocytes. Their activity appears to be essential not only for themaintenanceof immunological self-tolerancebut potentially also for the control of all physiological immune responses whether against normal self-proteins, microbes or cancerous cells. A fuller understanding of these cells should allow us to effectively exploit their suppressive functions for clinical benefit.

FoxP3+ Regulatory T Cells in Peripheral Blood of Patients with Epithelial Ovarian Cancer
Background: Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of death from malignancy in women. CD4 +CD25+FoxP3+ regulatory T (Treg) cells are a subset of T lymphocytes with great inhibitory impact on immune response. Objectives: To investigate the percentage of CD4 +CD25+FoxP3+ regulatory T cells in the peripheral blood of the Iranian patients with epithelial ovarian cancer compared to healthy women ...

T lymphocytes have been characterized to different subsets such as cytotoxic T, Thelper1 (Th1), Th2, Th3, Th9, Th17, and regulatory T cells. Each of these subsets have specific function which distinct them from other lymphocytes. Regulatory T lymphocytes are effective cells in immune system that play an important role in cancers, autoimmune and infectious diseases. Two main subsets of regulator...
متن کاملAltered Th17/Treg Ratio in Recurrent Miscarriage after Treatment with Paternal Lymphocytes and Vitamin D3: a Double- Blind Placebo-Controlled Study
Background: Recurrent miscarriage (RM) affects 2-5% of pregnant women. Paternal lymphocyte immunotherapy is a common treatment for RM patients but the outcome has not been consistent. Therefore, combined therapy with other immunosuppressive drugs such as 1 a, 25-dihydroxy-vitamin-D3 (vitamin D3) may improve the outcome. Objectives: To investigate the effect of vitamin D3 on the balance of two...
متن کاملP-212: Association between Polymorphisms of CTLA-4 Gene and Unexplained Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion in An Iranian Population
Background: Unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA) has been suggested being associated with the failure of fetal-maternal immunologic tolerance in which the regulatory T lymphocytes (Tregs) play a crucial role. Cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4) is expressed transiently on activated T cells and constitutively on Tregs. CTLA-4 interacts with the B7 cell surface molec...
متن کاملMolecular signature of recent thymic selection events on effector and regulatory CD4 T lymphocytes Running title: Thymic selection of effector and regulatory CD4 T lymphocytes
Natural CD4CD25 regulatory T lymphocytes are key protagonists in induction and maintenance of peripheral T cell tolerance. Their thymic origin and biased repertoire continue to raise important questions on the signals that mediate their development. We validated analysis of MHC class II-capture by developing thymocytes from thymic stroma as a tool to study quantitative and qualitative aspects o...
متن کاملEndogenous regulatory T lymphocytes ameliorate amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in mice and correlate with disease progression in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a relentless and devastating adult-onset neurodegenerative disease with no known cure. In mice with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, CD4+ T lymphocytes and wild-type microglia potentiate protective inflammatory responses and play a principal role in disease pathoprogression. Using this model, we demonstrate that endogenous T lymphocytes, and more specifically regu...
